Hello everyone!

I've been in Port Elizabeth the last 2 months. it's a bigger city 45 mins from Jeffreys Bay. Where I was Sep.-Dec of 08. I love P.E. we are now a group of 15. We work with a youth group, at a church called Lifehouse family church! Others and I are in the praise band at the church! (it's fun) We also work with kids in the townships and I work with babys. Life is good here. some days are more crazy then others!!! My parents just come to see me! And it was GREAT! They got to see the whole team. We went to Swziland a country with in South Africa. I LOVED IT! My Dad got to see old friends. I'm in love.

Hey long time no blog.

things are rapping up here. Christmas break is in 17 days! I havelearned so much here! it's sad somethings I've learned God had to take me to africa to really get it!

Beat The Drum-Somerset east

Beat the Drum was amazing! You maybe wondering, what is Beat the Drum? It's a

HIV AIDS awareness program. It started in 2004. It's been all over South

Africa,Zambia, Bonzania,and the southern countries. We had a group of 100

invade the small town, Sommerset East. We worked with different churches,

schools, farms, and people in the community.

Can you imagine looking around a room knowing that there is a good chance that

your whole class has AIDS/HIV? We went into those schools and showed the

movie, Beat the Drum. Then the next day we followed up with a leson, a book

more like a magazine. There is so much in it! About sex, HIV/AIDS,miths/lies,

truth -God's word, condums. Yeah, lots of stuff! We talked about it ALL!

This week we didn't hold back and either do they. I loved my class!

Teaching is a big thing! You can break a child or make one! You have so much

influence!

So many of the people in the community just welcomed us in their

homes. They made us family for a week! The people were so nice to us

=) loved it!

Let me tell you a little bit about the school that I was in. There are 4 main

schools in Sommerset. I was in Johnson. Johnson is a big school! It's a poor

school. So many things happened in my class. We talked about love and lust.

I can't describe what's happening here. All the things God is doing here in

Sommerset AND us, the AIM team and in ME...WOW! This place is where

God wanted us

to be. Sometimes it feels so discouraging and overwelming. My heart really

broke for them...it really did. It's so hard to see. The world is so messed

up. It seems hopeless..there is no hope. There is no way of getting out

of this mess, WITH OUT YOU! The world will never be perfect. But we just can't

sit on our butts and do nothing. IF YOU never try! What would happen

IF YOU DID?

So many things happened this week!

First I and 16 others worked at a camp this weekend as leaders, support team.

the place we are staying at until Dec. has lots of camps on site. So,

we moved out one week, but this week, 17 of us worked there. I was so

tired. Only

by God's strength did I make it thro the week without a breakdown. The camp

started on Friday and ended on Tuesday. I had a group of 9 girls, and at the

end of the week I had only 4! Some of the girls had to leave for different

reasons. I loved my girls! So sweet! They know alot about God! God is really

working in the lives of the youth here. God is really using this generation in

South Africa. Those kids are so broken! Alot of my girls were upper class, but

their home lives are terrible! Broken homes, lies. How do you tell someone

that God is their Heavenly Father, then their own father hits them? It's

so hard.



Guys, I ask you that you would PRAY!

For the youth here, their families, for spirits of confusion would be broken,

for them to have a real friendship with God. Our team would stay healthy.

Beat the Drum! Like the movie! =) An AIDS awareness program that we will be

helping with on Oct. 11 for a week. This will be in the community of

Summerset East. The people in the township (the poor part of Jbay)...

Africa....



Some of our team went and met a Mom and her kids. Her 7 month old baby

looks like

a new born..our team just came back sobbing..their hearts were broken. The Mom

is an alcoholic and in drugs. They are trying to help her and her kids, but

if Blessings (one of the girl's names) and the 7 month old leave, what will

the Mom do?



God is really working here!! Sometimes we see it and sometimes we don't..It's

Gods way, not ours. When we think.. oh just another day...what's a day

in Africa??

CRAZYYYYYY....anyway nope you will be humbled, broken, and lifted. It's so

easy to focus on yourself and NOT see other's needs.



The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the

stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?

Jesus loves you guys!! My team is amazing! wow..I've missed them this week! I

was living in a house(cabin) with 15 strangers for 5 days. =)

A Graduate's Prayer by Pam Youmans

Dear God,

I've got a problem. I'm graduating in a couple of days and the world is outside waiting for me. But it's seem so big and messed up. dont know if I reallt want to step into in.

I have some idea of what I want to do. But God, what if it isn't right for me? I'm so scared that I won't make the right choice.

I believe I have a purpose, but how do I know what that is? And, how will i know I'm fulfilling my purpose?

I want to get a lot out of life, but I don't know exactly what.

I know I want to see a child's face light up with joy, and i want to see people talking to each other and showing their love for each other.

But more then than all this, I want to beable to laugh, and cry and communicate, and love. I want to to be able to love everyone; yet how can I do that when hate wells up in me? I want to be patient and understanding, but in a world filled with indifference, pessimism, and doubt, how can i hope to accomplish my noble goals?

I want to understand myself and other, but I can't understand other until I understand myself. How, Lord?

I want other people to love and understand me too, but it's so hard to make things clear when people won't listen and have already made up their minds. I want to have an open mind, but subtle prejudices too often seen to cloud my life.

I want all of my fears of future to be dismissed, so that only the hopes remain. But is this possible?

I want to know, see experience true happiness, but, God, how can I when I know there is poverty, hunger, and death? Yet what can I do about the world's problems? I'm one, one person.

God, most of all. I want to give myself to you, but this is such a bid commitment-- one that can't make without that power of the spirit in me. God, I'm sofilled with guestions. help me find answers.. for today and tomorrow.

I got this from one of my friends for graduation this spring. When I read it, it was exactly what I was feeling and I still am. I really can't wait to leave, but at the same time I'm not wanting to say goodbye. Everything is changing which is good how boring it be if it didn't! I'm going to miss everyone from home..well most.. just kidding I will!!

Show me your way, O Lord teach me your paths; guide me in you truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalms25:4-5
